I know George Martin he was of
good caractir [character] none of his color beter [better]
I have known him 35 years or all of
his life John Hugens has lived at our home
all his life tha [they] were both purfectly [perfectly] trust
worthy [trustworthy] tha [they] was both above the average
tha [they] both seamed [seemed] to be foolish about
each other I think that George Martin
just want to have alittle [a little] fun with the
family he sertainly [certainly] ment [meant] no harm or
ment [meant] to steal any thing George Martin
was imployed [employed] by me 8 years as cook and
worked some in the dary [?] and was perfictly [perfectly]
honest and trustworthy and I can say
fuly [fully] as much for John Hugens

This is to certify that I have this day made
a post mortum examination of the body
of one George Martin col and find that
there was a hole as big as a silver dollar
through the sternward [?] brest [breast] bone midway
between the nipples and 3/4 of an inch
above I find furrther the whole of the base
or upper half and right side of hant [hadn't]
torn away and all the large vessels
severd [severed] This wound caused instant
