New Ordinance.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City Council of Greenville, in Council assembled, and by authority of the same:
Section 1. From and after the passage of this ordinance it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to erect, maintain or permit any porch, piazaor other projection of any kind over Main street, from the monument to the iron bridge, of the City of Greenville without permission of the City Council; provided, however, that this ordinance shall not apply to the ordinary folding awning or to temporary projections used for repairing or building purposes. And all such pro jections as are prohibited by this ordinance, now existing, are hereby declared to be obstructions in the public highways of the City of Greenvill and nuisances, and the owner of the premises where said obstructions exist are hereby required, upon notice given by the clerk of the City Council of Greenville, to remove the same with in five days thereafter or be liable to the punishment hereinafter provided. And in case such person or persons refuse or fail to move said obstruction the said Council, through any of its officers or agents, are herby autherized and required so to do and collect the cost from said owner or owners.
Sec. 2. Any person or persons violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, or resisting the officer, agent or employe of the city in the discharge of any duty here enjoined or authorized, upon conviction are liable to a fine not exceeding fifty dollars for each day said violation shall [possibly "exist"], or imprisonment not exceeding thirty days And in case any party fails to remove any obstruction as whereinbefore provided for, after due notice by the said Cuncil, he shall be [unknown word] to a fine not exceeding five dollars, or imprisonment not exceeding five days for each and every day he permits said obstruction to remain after such notice.

An Ordinance.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Greenville, in Council assembled and by the authority of the same. That and ordinance Fixing and Regulation the Use of Sewers by Private Parties in the City of Greenville, S. C., passed on the 15th day of July, 1892, be and the same is hereby amended by striking out section 27 thereof, and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
All exit pipes from kitchen sinks shall be covered by a strong preforated metallic strainer, securely fastened to sink mesh, not over 1/4 inch diameter to prevent any improper substance from entering the Sewer.
Done and ratified in Council assembled this 1st day of December, 1896.

[second ordinance] An Ordinance Regulating The Use of the Streets of the City of Greenville by Hacks.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Alderman of the City of Greenville, in Council assembled, and by the authority of the same.
Section 1. That from and after the passage of this ordinance it shall be unlawful for any hack or hacks, or other conveyances used in the transportation of individuals from place to place in the City for hire, to stand or occupy for the purpose of soliciting custom on any portio of Main Street or Washingtom Street within the said City.
Sec. 2. They are authorized to stand their hacks upon any other streets within the City of Greenville. Provided they stand them near the sidewalk so as to leave unobstructed the middle of said streets.
Sec. 3. Any person or persons violating the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined by the Mayor or seting Mayor, in the sum not exceeding $25 or be imprisoned 30 days.
Sec. 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance be, and the same is hereby repealed.
Done and ratified in Council assembled, this the 6th day of April, A. D., 1897.
