34 Ordinances of the City of Greenville.

SEC. 3. Be it further ordained, That so much of the
Ordinance concerning dogs, above mentioned, as relates
to dogs kept upon the premises of the owners of such
dogs be and the same is hereby repealed; and that the
money paid to the City Treasurer for licenses by such
owners for dogs not running at large to be refunded to
them.

SEC. 4. And be it further ordained, That this Ordinance
shall take effect from and after the 9th day of April,
1876.
Done and ratified under the Corporate Seal of the said
City of Greenville, on the seventh day of April, in
[in margin] (L.S.) the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred

AN ORDINANCE TO SUPPRESS FARO BANKS AND GAMING
TABLES WITHIN THE CITY OF GREENVILLE.

Be it ordained, by the Mayor and Aldermen of the
city of Greenville, in Council assembled, That hereafter
it shall not be lawful for any person or persons to
open, set up, exhibit to be played at, or keep within his,
her or their enclosure, within the City of Greenville, any
gaming table commonly called A. B. C., or E. O., or
any gaming table known or distinguished by any other
letters or figures, or rolly polly table, or rouge et noir
table, or any faro bank or other table or bank of the
same or like kind, under any denomination whatever,
or permit the game of pass dice to be played at, within
his her or their enclosure. Any person or persons of
fending against any provision of this section shall, upon
conviction thereof, forfeit the sum of fifty dollars for
each and every offence, and in default of the payment of
the fine imposed, be compelled to work on the streets of
the City under the direction of the Street Overseer,
twenty days, and be held in the custody of the Police
during the night time, until the term of the sentence
shall expire.
