FLY PAPER FEBRUARY 1943 PAGE 8
ALL THIS - AND MORE.
We are the "Gang from Reclamation."
Our girls engage in mild flirtation.
Soldiers come from miles aorund
They say - "for parts that can't be found"
But they can't fool us, we've been around.
They drive poor Melton to distraction
As he works on some deep transaction.
He pokes around, to find some parts
While the girls continue breaking hearts.
The fellows here are like old women
You can push 'em down, but they'll come up grinnin'
They rant and tear, they cuss and snort
But dig down deep, and you'll find a sport.
They call us "Junkmen", that's O.K.
At least by heck - we earn our pay
Give us tools and give us room
And we'll show you how to make things BOOM.
The only thing that wets our ardor
Is when the sky is full of water.
The rain comes down, the mud comes up
Each one looks like drowned pup.
Our office floats in the middle of a "crick"
Getting in and out is quite a trick;
The fire goes out, the lights grow dim
The whole gang wishes, they knew how to swim.
Well I guess it's time this thing was through
It's gotta be in by half past two.
So I'll call it quits, and save some space
But we're still the BEST GANG IN THE WHOLE DERN PLACE.
