I have the honor to acknow:
:ledge the receipt of your letter of
the 25th Augt. applying for leave of
absence from the Legislative Council
for two (2) years.

I regret that I do not feel at
liberty to comply with this request
but if at the end of one years
absence you still wish to remain
away, and will then make your ap:
:plication for an extension, I will
take it into consideration, tho:
my decision must depend
upon the state of Public business
at the time

I have the honor to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter dated Nov 2
drawing my attention to the usual
custom of carrying on correspondence
between yourself and the Governors
of these Colonies, in consequence
of a reply to your last letter being
signed by my Private Secretary

When your letter of the 25 Sept:
arrived I was on a tour in the
north and my Private Secretary
telegraphed to me for instructions _
I desired him to inform the proper
Authorities of the offer made through
you and to inform you of the result
that no time might be lost
