13 April
John Watts
Further recommendation of Polling Places
[? Etry Vale. Illegible, overwritten] April 9th 1860
Sir,
I do myself the honor to
further recommend Clifton as
Polling Place, being one of the most
central stations on the Downs.
And request that you will
do away with Western Creek,
Retreat, and Arndell Station
as they would be comparitively (sic)
useless as polling places on acct.
of their isolated situations,
there being also very few voters
living on or near them.
I have
the honor to be
Your most obdt Servant
John Watts
To
The Honble
The Colonial Secretary
Brisbane
{It shd be explained to Mr Watts who it was
that recommended the above stations. Does not
the Judge say it is now illegal to
change?
GFB}
{ Ihave sent
him the Judge's
opinion, but think it
must have referred to
the times of polling for
which are fixed in
the Courts}
