a Faculty of Arts and a Faculty of Divinity."

On 4th February following, Dr Liddell re-
ported "that he had visited Montreal, and stayed there
for three weeks, -having spent that time in communica-
tions with His Excellency The Governor General, The Mem-
bers of the Executive Council, and as many members as
possible of both Houses of Parliament, -the object of such
communications being to enforce on all to whom he had
access the desirableness and and necessity of constructing
a University measure on the principles advocated hither-
to by the Trustees of Queen's College."

"It is impossible for Dr.Liddell to say, until
the Government measure is announced, whether any suc-
cess shall have attended his visit to Montreal."

A Bill by the Honourable Mr.Draper for
the Amendment of the Charter of King's College, on the whole
similar in terms to the Bill brought forward in the preced-
ing Parliament by the Honourable Mr. Baldwin, was
read a first time in the beginning of March, but
met with such opposition from the Authorities of King's
