then Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York, now King and
Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, Emperor and Empress
of India, visited Queen's, when His Royal Highness laid the
corner stone of the Kingston Hall with appropriate ceremony,
and thereafter accepted the honor of Laureation as Doctor of
Laws. The son of George V was welcomed with every token of
loyalty when he appeared amongst us at a special Convocation,
October 25th. Queen's offered him the same degree that
was conferred on his father in 1901, and he was pleased
to accept. After laureation, his speech of acknowledgment
and thanks was a model of aptness and taste. He was
proud to be enrolled among the graduates of Queen's. The
spacious Grant Hall was crowded to the limit, and the
youngest graduate of Queen's could see how appreciative
a Canadian audience could be of his presence and wise words.
In his tour over the Dominion his charm was the tale on
every tongue.
