No time would be lost in looking for successors to the
men who had retired, and as there could be no suspension
of the work in the Registrar's Office, Miss King was requested
to act in the meantime.

A very full and detailed report was submitted by the
Finance and Estates Committee, accompanied with recommendations
as to grading, and advance of salaries to Professors,
Associate and Assistant Professors and Lecturers in
all the Faculties. The report was adopted and its recommendations
put into effect (Minute, April 1919).

A special Summer Special was authorized for the returned
men in the Faculty of Applied Science. All courses in
Engineering were offered, and in addition a Preparatory
Year for unmatriculated men wishing to enter Arts, Science
or Medicine, classes to open on the 26th April.

The Military authorities advised that the University
buildings loaned them for Hospital purposes would be vacated
in time to have them put in readiness for use next session.

A special committee was appointed to consider the question
of Deanships. Later, the committee reported that the term
should be five years, and if the record was satisfactory, the
holder to be eligible for reappointments.

It was agreed to place in Grant Hall a tablet to the memory
of Lord Strathcona, who had been a benefactor of the University.

At the fall meeting of teh Board, Oct. l15, 1919, the Principal
