that Mr. James Douglas B.A. of this University offers a prize of $40 to the student who shall distinguish himself most for his Knowledge of English Literature. The Principal agreed to acknowledge the gift conveying the Cordial thanks of the Senatus.

It was resolved that in the meantime this prize be confined to the third year's Students in Arts, and that Spalding's History of English Literature be the text book for Examination.

Queen's College 13th January 1861 Which day the Senatus met and was duly constituted. Sederunt The Very Reverend Principal Leitch, Professors Williamson, George Mowat, Lawson and Weir. The minutes of former meeting were read and approved of.

The Secretary was instructed to get the Scheme of Examination for degrees printed and proof copies sent to each Professor.

It was agreed that there should be no meetings on Saturday Mornings in future for prayers.

Which day the Senatus met and was duly constituted. Sederunt The Very Reverend Principal Leitch, Professors Williamson, George, Mowat, Lawson and Weir, Stewart, Lavell, Yates, Fowler and Dickson. The minutes of former meeting were read and approved of.

A Committee consisting of Dr. Leitch, Professors Williamson and George was appointed to consider the propriewty of shortening the Session from seven to six months and of extending the Curriculum from three to four years to report at next [insert superscript]meeting[/superscript][/insert] The Medical Faculty was authorized to determine whether it would not be more advantageous to the Medical Students that the Sesson should begin in October and end in March instead of November and April as at present.

The Senatus unanimously agreed to confer the Degree of D.D. on the Reverend President Nelles of Victoria College Cobourg C.W. and on The Revd. William Donald M.A. Minister of the Presbyterian Church of New-Brunswick, in Connection with the Church of Scotland St John New-Brunswick
