the Essay to be given in at the commencement
of next Session; the competition to be restricted
to Students having in view the Ministry, and the
prize to be called "The Scottish Ladies' Prize."

The Principal was requested to convey the
thanks of the Senatus to the Rev. Mr McLeod, and
through him to the Ladies who bestowed this donation
and also to inform him of the manner in which
it has been appropriated.

The Senatus then took up the subject
of Degrees. As some Students of former years
werre entitled to the degree of A.B. it was agreed that
a meeting of the Senatus be held on Tuesday
the first day of June next at 10 o'clock a.m.
in order to examine Candidates, and decide in this
matter. — It was agreed also that the ordinary
Examination of the Classes should take place on
Tuesday the 25 and Wednesday the 26 of May,
at 10 o'clock a.m. that the prizes should be be distributed
on the Wednesday afternoon, and the Session
then closed with an address by the Principal.

Messrs Wiulliamson and Romanes were appointed
to draw up a plan for the Examinations
for degrees.

The Secretary was instructed to send notice
of the meeting to Messrs George and Urquhart.

It was resolved that Dr Mathieson be requested
to procure from Principal McFarlan a copy of the
Statutes of the University of Glasgow, and that
Dr Machar procure from Principal Lee a copy
of those of the University of Edinburgh, and any
other documents that may be useful for enabling
