The Senate met and was constituted.

Sederunt Principal Snodgrass, Professors Williamson, Mowat, Mackerras, Dupuis, Ferguson, and Watson.

The minutes of the last meetings held March 18th and March 28th were read and approved.

The programme of the pass examinations prepared by the Committee appointed for the purpose was agreed to after amendment and is as follows:

The Senate having made the necessary inquiries resolved that at the statutory meeting they would on the usual conditions confer the degree of D.D. upon the Rev. John Black of Kildonan, Manitoba.

[margin] Rev. P. Gray [/margin]

In consideration of the present state of health of the Rev. Patrick Gray the excellent and able minister of Chalmers' Church, Kingston, the Senate agreed not to proceed with their resolution of Jan. 22d in regard to conferring upon him the degree of D.D.

[margin] centennial exhibition [/margin]

A letter was read from the Secretary of the Minister of Education offering on behalf of the Education Department to take charge of such statistics, reports, and photographs as the Senate might desire to send to the Centennial Exhibition. The Senate agreed to accept this offer, and the Secretary was instructed to transmit the above named documents etc. to Toronto without delay.

Williamson, Mowat, Mackerras, Dupuis, Ferguson, and Watson.

The minutes of the last meeting held April 1st were read and approved.

[margin] examiners of Theses [/margin]

The Theses for M.A. were apportioned among the Professors for examnation as follows: Mr. Gray's - the Principal and Professor Mowat: Mr. Lang's - Professors Williamson and Dupuis : Mr. Burgess' - Professors Mackerras and Ferguson.

The Senate revised a part of the Calendar.

[margin] Prizes from Messrs. Macpherson & Maclennan [/margin]

The Principal informed the Senate that the Hon. D.L. Macpherson had authorized the offer of $25 for a Prize Essay, and that D.B. Maclennan Esq. had sent a cheque for $50 for a Prize essay and class prizes.

[margin] scholarships from D.S. Dow [/margin]

The Principal reported that David Strathern Dow Esq. of Toronto had given $1500 for the foundation of a scholarship in Theology. It was agreed that the scholarship be offered for competition to matriculants in Theology.
