will be in other parts of Canada
during the summer months.
Greatly, therefore as I should welcome
this opportunity of spending a few
days with you on the Pacific
coast and enjoying a cruise in
British Columbia waters - I can think
of no more delightful holiday - I
just can't see, at this moment, how
it can be arranged. I could not
very well go west without taking
some part in the Vancouver celebrations,
and visiting my constituency
at Prince Albert; all combined
would mean most of the month
of August - with no preparation
for League affairs. I shall endeavour
however to spend a day with
you in Quebec before you leave
for the Maritimes, as I imagine
your time will not be too free
upon your return, and with the
President's visit fixed for the
31st. It looks, at the moment, as
if poor Veniot were near the
end of his days. Should it suit
your convenience, I would plan
to drop off at Quebec on my way
back form Bathurst (New Brunswick)
in the event of finding it possible
to attend the funeral of my old
colleague, should it take place, as
seems inevitable within the
next few days.

I have noted your suggestions
re Trustees of the National Gallery
and will have a word with
you concerning them when we
meet. It is not likely that
any appointments will be made
