I am writing before breakfast, as I shall have a very busy day. - Brit. [Instructional?] meeting at 12. - lunch with Ramsay Mac - [Board?] meeting - chair for [Mason] at Royal Society of Literature - dine at the Inner Temple. The Budget was a very skilful performance on Winston's part, & was

well received. Noel [ST: Skelton MP] has christened it 'The Boys' Budget', because it was largely the work of Bob Boothby and Harold Macmillan!

We had a pleasant dinner last night, but Tin is rather seedy & desperately depressed. No word of a let, & the Joneses roosting under her roof-tree!
