I sent down Lewis with a note to Cousin Kathy [Lady Catherine Coke] yesterday afternoon telling here what you wanted to know & asking if I might go and see her today &

have received the enclosed answer which does not tell you very much. You might perhaps try & see either Lord Stamfordham & Captain Wallington when you get back. I have just

come back from Regents Square where Mr Robertson preached on Gitanjala - he gave rather too many extracts but they are very beautiful. Alice was very good on the whole though she sighed once or twice & murmured "rather

a long Service".

I went to luncheon with Gerald yesterday. Florence Amery & Therese were there. Thérése [Mrs Moritz Bonn] went off yesterday. I think we must send her a copy of Montrose. Gran went off to luncheon at Clapham & to the wilds of Wandsworth for the afternoon - & came back having enjoyed herself. Lord & Lady Sydenham came to see me yesterday afternoon. They were very much disappointed to miss you.

Lord Sydenham thinks that there may be an election in April - I am glad you had such a good social at Ettrick Head. What a pack there must have been with 180 in that tiny place. Your speech at Peebles seems to have been excellent. Gran & I read it with breathless
