Tweedside is looking very pretty. I never remember seeing the growth of vegetation at this time so strong. I am not overworking, but only doing enough to satisfy my conscience, and spending a great deal of time in the open air. I have just been reading Zola's Rome, which I thought a thoroughly tiresome, stupid novel.
