Sunday 6 Jan 1895 Snowing all night, skating spoiled by snow, not very cold. John Smith burried to day. G & V went to the funeral held at the espicopal church and from there went over to Bells to make a very small visit, came home after dark. Raining some. Dec 25 Monday 1983 Christmas Ground nearly bare. Charley, Belle & Children came down in sleigh for the first Christmas they were ever here. We had a very pleasant time and would have had a better but we were none of us well from the grip, and Belle says if all is well, she, Charles and the children will spend next christmas with us. Well they go home early but got caught in rain before reaching home but they sat in bottom of sleigh and Charley covered them [illegible] with Buffalo robes so they wouldn't get wet.
