Irene Dixon Bamford (1833-1922) is the author of the Irene Dixon Bamford diaries. She was born in Jefferson County, NY; died on Wolfe Island, ON; and buried at Saint Lawrence United Church Cemetery.

She resided on family property at the foot of the Wolfe Island called Bamford Point, which was where she was situated during the time of her diaries. The family also owned a small island close to Linda’s Island.

Her biological children: Isabelle May “Belle” Bamford Halliday (1861-1945); William Wells “Welly” Bamford Jr (1865-1944); James Devolson “Voltie” Bamford (1867-1960); John Dixon Bamford (1871-1927); and Grace Darling Bamford Gaskin (1875-1950)

Her adopted children: Maude Watson; Edith and Emma Lehamen; and supposedly another child
