On motion of Ald. Smythe seconded by Ald. McKelvey

Ordered that in pursuance of "The Public Health Act
1884. Sections 12 & 13 the Local Board of Health of this City
shall consist of His Worship the Mayor, the Police Magistrate
Aldermen Whiting, Clements, & Hobart, the City Commissioner,
Ex Mayors Sullivan and Carson, Professor [Carl?] [Harris?]
and Dr [Strange?] and that the appointment of the Board
of Health made at the first meeting of this Council in
January be and is hereby repealed

A communication from Joseph E Clark Secretary
Kingston General Hospital was read. In Re Change for
Pauper Patients to the Municipalities. Referred to the
Finance Committee.

A Communication from F. A. Sargent Secretary of the
Kingston Street Railway Company was read acknowledging
receipt of Report of Committee with Communication [&c?] and stating
the Directors of the Street Railway have agreed to accept and
comply with the same without modification. [?]

On motion of Ald. McKelvey seconded by Ald. Smythe

Ordered that His Worship the Mayor do call a special
meeting of this Council on Friday evening the 9th instant
for the purpose of considering the Street Railway By-Laws

A Communication from [W. P. Dwight?] was read respecting
the [painting?] of the Telegraph Poles. Referred to the Committee
on City Property.

Communications from the Clerks of Hamilton & Peterborough
acknowledging receipt of Consolidated By-Laws were read

A communication from [W. L. Gordon?] City Commissioner
was read asking for a place to be [branded?] for the [deposit?]
of Coal Ashes [?]

A communication from [William L. Gordon?] was read
respecting Piggeries and referred to the Local Board of Health

Resolutions adopted at a Public Meeting for Re Kingston
Street Railway were [strikethrough] was [/strikethrough] read

A Writ of Summons was read In Re [Burns?]vs the
Corporation of the City of Kingston claiming $200 damages for injury
to Plaintiff. Referred to the City Solicitors.

Communication James [Agnew?] Esquire, City Solicitor was read
asking for [restrictions?] entering for [trial?] the action in Re Kingston
vs The Kingston Street Railway Company

On motion for Ald. Whiting [seconded?] by Ald. Wilson

Ordered that the present action against the Street
Railway Company be allowed to stand until the Solicitor be futher
instructed by the Council, without prejudice.

Applications from Samuel [Self?] and John Paterson for the
position of Pound Bailiff. Referred to the Mayor to act

Ald. Wilson brought up the petition of John Abernathy
asking for a remission of the rent of the City Hall on the occasion
of holding Christian Mission Meetings every Sunday evening
