the dollar upon the assessed value of the rateable property in the
City of Kingston for the lawful purposes of the municipality for
the year of our Lord 1880 which was read a first time

The 29th rule was suspended for the evening and
the Council went into Committee of the whole on the second
reading

Ald Maloney in the Chair

The Council resumed
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second
reading of the By Law clause by clause. The report was
received.

The By Law was read a third time and passed.

Ald McIntyre introduced a By Law to appoint two
collectors and for other purposes which was read a first time
The 29th Rule was suspended and the Council went into
Committee of the whole on the By Law

Ald McCammon in the Chair
The Council resumed
The Committee rose reported progress and asked leave to sit again.
The Report was received.

On motion the Council adjourned

The Clerk read the minutes for the five last meetings

A communication from William Davis Proprietor British
American Hotel was read on the subject opf allowing Gas
Lamp corner of King and Clarence streets lighted all night

On motion of Ald Snook seconded by Ald McMahon
Ordered, that the letter of Mr Davis be referred to the
Committee on FIre, Water and Gas to report.

Communications from Henry H Turner Township Clerk of the
Rear of Leeds and Landsowne was read offering to give $1000 for the
purchase of the portion of the Kingston and Phillips new road now in
