Ald Gaskin moves seconded by Ald Fee
That the commuications of the City Solicitor in
reference to assessment be referred to Committee on back taxes
which being put was lost the first amendment being put was
carried and the orginal motion being also put was carried
as amended

A communication from J&D Revell was read asking for
compensation for land taken in 1877 for the extension of Montreal
street from Princess St to Brock Street

On motion of Ald Snook seconded by Ald Gaskin
Ordered That the letter of the Messrs D&J Revell be
referred to the Committee on Streets and Improvements to
report

A communication from Edwin Horsey, Chief Fire Brigade
was read asking for the Quarters pay of the members of the
Fire Department to the 1st July 80

On motion of Ald McCammon seconded by Ald Wilson
Ordered That the communication of Chief Horsey be
referred to His Worship the Mayor with power to act

A circular from Josiah Hill, Chief Secretary of
the Council of the Six Nations was read asking for a grant
of money towards the "Brant Memorial Association" There
was no action taken thereon

A communication from Harry Youlden was read
asking for two weeks leave of absence from the 1st day of
August next

On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald Fee
Ordered, That the communication of Harry Youlden
be referred to tehj Committee on Fire, Water and Gas with
power to act

A communication from James Nesbitt Collector of
Market Tolls No 1 Market was read claiming damages
owing to the unsanitary state of the Fish Market &c

Ald Allen brought up the petition of James Nesbitt
Collector of market Tolls No 1 Market asking for an
investigation into the several grievances set forth by him

On motion of Ald Allen seconded by Ald Dupuis
Ordered, That the petition and letter of James
Nesbit be referred to the Committee on Markets to report

Ald McGuire brought up the petition of Messrs O'Brien
and Marsden asking for a Lamp in front of the "Windsor
Hotel"

On motion of Ald McGuire seconded by Ald McCammon
Ordered, That the petition of Messrs O'Brien and
Marsden be referred to the Committee on Fire, Water and
Gas to report

Ald Dupuis brought up the petition of Thomas Tobin
praying for a remission of Carters License
