brought up a Report (Number 9 Book E) which was read

Ald Pense moves seconded by Ald McCammon
That the Report of the Committee on Finance and
Accounts be received and adopted

In amendment 1st
Ald Fee moves seconded by Ald Law
That the item of $65.87 in the Finance Report
be struck out as against Rideau Ward
Which being put was lost

In amendment 2nd
Ald Pense moves seconded by Ald McCammon
That the clause regarding the schools be now
taken up separately from the rest of the Report
Which being put was carried

In amendment 3rd
Ald Dupuis moves seconded by Ald Gaskin
That the discussion of the providing of $4000
for increased school accommodation be adjourned to another
session of the Council so that facts may be obtained
relating to the matter
Which being put was carried

On motion of Ald Harty seconded by Ald Pense
Ordered, That Mr Charles F Ireland be
appointed Assessor under the new Assessment By Law
his appointment to date for one year from the 1st July
next and salary to be fixed at $700 per annum payable
monthly, when not engaged in duties of Assessor,
services to be given as assisstant to the Treasurer

On motion the Council adjourned
