Kingston June 14, 1880
A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston
was held this day. Present:
His Worship The Mayor
Aldermen Allen, Anglin, Dupuis, CF Gildersleeve, Harty, Irving, Law,
Maloney, McCammon, McGuire, McIntyre, McMahon, McRossie,
Pense, Snook, Wilson
The Clerk read the minutes of the two last meetings
A Communication of the W.M Drennan Secretary Citizens Committee
was read asking for a grant for Dominion Day Celebration
On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, That $200 be granted to assist in the celebration
of Dominion Day, the distribution of the fund to rest with the Mayor
and Finance Committee
A Communication from RV Matthews was read respecting
arrears of taxes
On motion of Ald McRossie seconded by Ald McIntyre
Ordered, That the Communication of RV Matthews
be referred to the Committee on Back Taxes to report
A Communication from Wm Hartley was read respecting sale of
drugs on Market
There was no action from thereon
A Communication from Mrs CF McAuley was read
asking for grant for Louisa Anderson blind girl
On motion of Ald McCammon seconded buy Ald Pense
Ordered, That the Communications of Mrs McAuley
and Rev RV Rogers on behalf of one Coleman be referred to
the Committee on Finance with power to act
Ald Fee here entered
A Communication from WC Horton was read respecting
sale of fish
There was no action taken thereon
A Communication from HB Rathbun & Sons was read
asking for an exemption from taxation for 10 or 15 years on a
new planing mill and sash factory in the event of their building
same, except the amount the property is at present assessed
On motion of Ald Pense seconded by Ald Harty
Ordered That the Communicaiton of HB
Rathbun & Sons be referred to the Committee on Finance
to report
A Circular from the Dominion Bank Note Company
was read in re Bank Notes
There was no action taken theron

respecting taxes
