Monday 8 o'Clock P.M.
Kingston March 22nd 1894

A special meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was
held this day. Present
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Carson, Donnelly, Elliott, Johns, Livingston, Mooers,
McKelvey, C. Robinson, W. Robinson, Stewart, Tait, Taylor,
Toye, Walkem, Wright

The Mayor stated that the meeting was called regarding the Bill to grant
a bonus for the erection of an elevator, now before the Private Bills Committee.

Ald Donnelly Chairman of the Special Committee having the matter in
hand was requested to inform the Council regarding the provisions of the bill as reported
on by the Private Bills Committee.

On motion of Ald Donnelly seconded by Ald Livingston
Ordered, That the following petition be sent to the Legislative Assembly and
that the Special Elevator Committee take such further steps as they think necessary
to get the assistance of other Councils and Boards of Trade towards securing the passing
of the Legislation asked for and that the Special Committee on Elevator Bonus continue
to act.

Ald Stewart brought up the Petition of Col. Smith et al asking that the
proper steps be taken to secure a medal from the Royal Humane Society of
England to Staff Sergeant Long in recogniton of his gallantry in saving life in
Kingston harbour.

On motion of Ald Stewart seconded by Ald Livingston.
That the Petition of Col. Smith be received with the request that it be
forwarded in due course.

On motion the Council adjourned.
