A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was held
this day. Present

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Bell, Carson, Donnelly, Elliott, Johns, Livingston, Minnes,
Mooers, McKelvey, Richardson C., Robinson W., Robinson Ryan,
Stewart, Tait, Taylor, Toye, Walkem ,Wright.

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.
Communications summarized by the Clerk were read referred as follows

From Macpherson and Hooper Re employers liability
assurance Corporation limited making application for the guarantee insurance on
City officials who are required to give bonds - Referred to the Committee on Finance &c

From G.E. Robinson Manager of the Bank of British North America
calling attention to his request to have certain repairs done to the Bank.
Referred to the Committee on City Property.

From F.C. Ireland, City Treasurer giving statement of fees received
from Market No.1 to date - Referred to Finance.

From George Thompson, Collector of Taxes Re amount of Taxes received
to date - Referred to Finance.

From G.M. Macdonnell asking for a grant - from the funds of the
Municipality in aid of the Indian famine.

A deputation consisting of Messrs R.V. Rogers and W.G. Nickle
addressed the Council on the subject.

On motion of Ald Robinson seconded by Ald Walkem
Ordered, That the communication respecting the Indian Famine Fund
be granted to the extent of $250.00 and the Finance Committee be asked to provide
the funds.

From W.H.Norton-Taylor asking an opportunity to have the matter of
muzzling his dog examined and have the order cancelled - Referred to the
Board of Works.

From D. McIntyre City Solicitor enclosing a letter received by him
from G.M Macdonnell and a draft of the bill of which the Kingston, Smith's
Falls and Ottawa Railway Company have given notice - Referred to the Committe
on Finance &c.
