A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was held this
day. Present:
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen:
Allen, Behan, Carson, Curtis, Donnelly, Drennan, Hewton,
Livingston, Martin, Milne, Minnes, Redden, Richardson, Robinson,
Ryan, Skinner, Stuart, Strainge, Tait, Walkem

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

Communicaitons summarized by Clerk were read and referred as
follows:

From the Dominion Bottle Company submitting Statutory Declaration.
Referred to Court of Revision.

From New York Filtering Co re: construction of filters. Referred to the Water
Works.

From George Clifford and others, taxes - Referred to the Court of Revision.

From F.C. Ireland, City Treasurer statement of fees No 1 Market received to
date. Referred to the Committee on Finance.

From George Thompson, Collector of Taxes stating amounts of taxes received to
date. Referred to the Committee on Finance.

From David Murray re: taxes J.B. Carruthers 1896. Referred to the Court
of Revision.

From Jane Gardiner objecting to street watering tax. Referred to the Board
of Works.

From Alina J. Forsyth complaining of street watering tax. Referred to
the Board of Works.

From John Mills complaining of certain rebates being made. Referred
to the Committe on Finance.

From James Blomsley asking leave to occupy the house lately occupied
by Mr. Vince. Referred to the Committee on Water Works.

From Adam Williamson by Ald Stewart re: taxes.
Referred to the Court of Revision.

From William Snowden by Ald Martin asking leave to remove a frame
building from Gordon Street to Alfred Street.
On motion of Ald Martin seconded by Ald Donnelly
Ordered, That the petition of William Snowden re removal of building on
Gordon Street to Alfred Street be referred to the City Engineer with power to act.

From Alexander Horn by Ald Stewart asking for refund of rent for use
of City Hall on St Andrews night. Referred to the Committee on City Property.

From George Kemp and 13 others for an electric light to be placed on the
intersection of Division and John Streets. Referred to the Committee on Fire, Water
and Light.

From Joseph George by Alderman Stewart re: drain Wellington Street.
Referred to the Board of Works.

From A. Hoppins and T. Darley Allen President and Secretary Working men's
meeting requesting the City Council to petition the Government of Ontario to introduce
legislation looking towards the abolition of the practice of soliciting votes by the
candidates for Municipal and parliamentary elections.
