From George Birch Re: compensation for building of drain on George Street.

Petitions were presented read and referred as follows

From the Imperial Oil Company by Ald. Drennan protesting against the
erection by the Queen City Oil Company to erect Oil Works inside the limits defined by
the By Law.

From George Robertson & Son and 12 others by Ald Drennan protesting against
any change being made in the By Law respecting the storing of Petroleum Oils &c.

From William McQuaid by Ald. Carson Re: taxes. Referred to the Court of
Revision.

From George Thompson by Ald. Allen asking leave to haul up a sail boat on
Gore Street slip.

On motion of Ald Donnelly seconded by Ald Allen
Ordered, That the petition of George Thompson be granted if this sail boat
when hauled out is placed in a position satisfactory to the Board of Works.

Ald. Behan from the Committee on Finance and accounts brought up Reports
(Numbers 85 & 86 Book H) which were read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Board of Works brought up Report (Number 87
Book H) which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Comittee on Water Works brought up Report
(Number 88 Book H) which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Fire Water and Light brought
up Report (Number 89 Book H).

On motion of Ald. Martin seconded by Ald Minnes
Ordered, That the report of the Committee on Fire Water and Light be received
and adopted as amended leaving out that clause which refers to the Oil Sheds or
buildings.

Ald Behan introduced By Law No 566 entitled "A By Law
to raise by way of loan the sum of $15000 required for the further extension and improvement
of the City Water Works for a third reading.
The By Law was read a third time and passed.

Ald Carson introduced By Law No 567 entitled "A By Law to authorize
the construction of a common sewer in a part of Beverly Street in the City of
Kingston as a local improvement under the provisions of the Municipal Act
in that behalf" which was read a first time.
Ordered That the 30th Rule of Council be suspended for the evening
as to the readings of By Law.
The Council went into Committee of the whole on the second reading.
Ald Robinson in the Chair.
The Council resumed.
The Committee rose and the Chairman reported the second reading of the
By Law clause by clause. The Report was received.
The By Law was read a third time and passed.
