limited, asking for a rebate of a certain amount of taxes for 1896.

Petitions were presented and referred as follows:

From George Payne by Ald. Drennan asking permission to have a drain
attached to his house on Johnston Street above Collingwood Street. Referred to the
Board of. Works.

From R.J. McDowall President Public Library Board asking for the free
use of Ontario Hall less expense of heating and lighting from October 23 to November
12th for the purpose of practice for the entertainment of "Ben Hur".

On motion of Ald. Livingston seconed by Ald. Behan
Ordered, That the prayer of the petition of R.J. McDowall be granted.

From Patrick Gallon by Ald. Newlands asking recompense for Work done.
Referred to the Board of Works.

Ald. Drennan from the Committee on Finance &c brought up Reports (Nos 81 &
82 Book H) which were read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Board of Works brought up Report (Number 83
Book H) which was read and adopted.

The Chairman from the Committee on Waterworks brought up Report
(Number 84 Book H) which was read and adopted.

On motion the Council adjourned.

Present:

His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen:
Allen, Behan, Carson, Curtis, Donnelly, Drennan, Hewton,
Livingston, Martin, Minnes, Redden, Robinson, Ryan, Skinner,
Stewart, Strainge, Tait, Walkem.

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

Communications summarized by the Clerk were read and referred
as follows:

From Donald M. McIntyre City Solicitor stating the Water Works
Debenture By Law is approved of by the Government of Ontario. Fyled.

From B.M. Britton Barrister claiming for injuries received by one
Alexander Gallinger. Referred to the Board of Works.

From W. Wolverton Secretary Fruit Growers ASsociation Re: visit to
Kingston. Referred to the Committee on Finance &c.

From John C. Landeryou and others taxes. Referred to the Court of Revision.

From F.C. Ireland Treasurer stating amount of No 1 Market fees received
to date. Referred to the Committee on Finance &c.

From W.L. Gordon Secretary Local Board of Health including Communication
from Mrs Anna Rogers asking for a remission of 12.00 on bill sent her.
Referred to the Committee on Finance &c.
