Re Kidnapped Gin, &c

Sir

I have the honor in
reference to my telegram of
yesterday re young Gin to
bring under your notice the
very reprehensible practices
which are commonly reported
to be carried on by some
of the Beche de Mer men
on this Coast - In numerous
instances I have heard of
natives being induced to
come on board of vessels
engaged in fishing on
unfrequented parts of the
coast and when on board
being taken off to a distant
reef or Island and detained
there - In the case of the
little Gin refered [sic] to in my
telegram so far as I can
learn she was taken as a
concubine for the Master
or one of his men - upon
