Sir

I am directed by the Commissioner of Police to hold an enquiry upon certain charges preferred by you by letter against Mr Sub Inspector Johnstone of this District and I have now the honor to request you will be good enough to attend with your Witnesses for the purposes of substantiating the same at Wickhams Hotel at 10 o'c in the forenoon tomorrow the 20 February.

The date of your letter above referred to is 13th December 1876
