that they had to run her ashore to prevent
her going down in deep water, she filled as
tide rose, after getting the cargo out of
her the Master called a Survey and sold her
as a wreck; by this mail I send official
enquiry into her loss, together with her papers,
to the board of trade.

(I have not held enquiry into loss of "Charles
Auguste" yet as I had hopes of finding the
missing portion of her crew. I shall most
likely be able to send it by this mail.)

I have not been able to fill up the vacancies
in the Water Police and Gov't Cutter, but
will do so the first chance.

The SE season has set in; the health of
the men belonging to the settlements is good.
