Sir
I have the honor to report for your
information that I discharged Robert Jones
from the Governmnet Cutter "Lizzie Jardine" on the
30th April, he could not get on with Mr
Wilkie, the Master, as I considered it best
to get rid of him at once.

I also discharge two of the troopers "Tiney" and
"Charlie" on the 31st March. They were promised
their discharge by Mr Jardine before I relieved
him, when I took charge from Mr Jardine, they
asked for their discharge, I told them if they
would stop on until Mr Jardine returned and
more troopers came up, that I would let
them go; when Mr Jardine returned to Somerset
I believe five troopers were enlisted to come up
to the settlement, but only one left in the
steamer, he has been a Brisbane Cabman.
each steamer I have expected troopers up, but
as they did not come I at last gave "Tiney"
and "Charlie" (who have been here over four
years) their discharge.

I have already reported by telegram the
total loss of the French Ship "Charles Auguste"
bound to Singapore with coal, Master Paul
Cogxel, which took place 27th April on the
Eastern Fields reefs, the Captain and nine
