I noted a bay to the N. of a hill
to which we went to, and saw
Goold Island to the N.W. where we
rejoined the others we did our
best to prove to them that we
were on Hinchinbrook Island,
but as some maintained, in the
face of what we had seen, that
we were on Magnetic Island
we were not unanimous as to
what road to steer.
March 2 proving fine the two boats
set off steering to the Southward.
When we arrived at the Southern
entrance of the Hinchinbrook Chan-
nel all doubts were removed as
to our position. We accordingly
turned up the Channel and arrived
about midday on Sunday at Card-
well. It is my duty to add that
on our arrival our wants were
promptly attended to.

I accompanied the Tinonee
on March 4 & visited the wreck.
The vessel lay nearly as we had
left her. She had righted a little
and had lost all her yards, they
were all, with the exception
of the four Top gallant yard, flash-
ing near her. The main top g.
yard had been previously lost.
