Philadephian cricketers did so well against the Australians and hope they will continue to do so. Some more tea cakes & a few more handkerchiefs would be very acceptable. I should also like my velocipede to be sent on.
I had a delightul walk yesterday afternoon and from a hill a beautiful view with the mountains in the distance and the woods which were in many places brilliant with red & yellow. In the course of the afternoon I saw a pair of wild ducks

which I think were within one hundered yards of me also what I think was a grey squirrel. I have changed my mind about receiving letters and also about their contents and should be very glad to recieve some from any of the family. On the next page is a bill of fare of some of our dinners I started to put down a week but this is a far as I got. One of the boys who boards here says that last winter Mrs. Hayward gave them sausage three times a day week in and week out with

My dear mother
Yesterday after dinner I went down to the post office where I found thy letter of the 10th and also went to a store where I got a couple of dozen good sized sickle pears which with Mo's help quickly dissapeared. As it rained yesterday afternoon I could not take a walk but went instead up to the gymnasium where there is a bowling alley, two rowing machines and a good many things of the sort. I found a good many chestnusts on the last Fourth Day and soon after tea that evening
