hard on account of my imperfect
knowledge of the Grammar. We left
the Latin Reader and commenced Nepos
last Monday and I think Nepos is
harder than Virgil and those that
have been through both seem to think
the same. We are going through the
Grammar very thoroughly. We have to
get two or three pages in it every
other day by heart so that we can
repeat the whole lesson without any
questions being asked.

I have obtaiend an entance into the
Gymnasium and I exercise there every
day about three quarters of an hour
besides walking which I think gives me
sufficient exercise.

I joined the Philo Mathean Society
as I suppose you know. The Society
meets every Wednesday evening which
affords me very agreeable amusement.
The Society has a small library which
has some very good books in it. I have
been reading Stephens Travels in Guatimala
and the history of Andover. Mr Humphry
told me the other day that he would
get me any books that I wanted from
a library connected with a literary society
at the Theological Seminary but I think
