Ma says to sell your curtains but pack your carpet and stow it in New Haven, buy some 1/4 lb camphor and sprinkle through it. Good by till next week your Loving sister Alice.

My dear Son I selected you a plan alpacca coat this morning, and they promised your whole suit at 12 to-day but it has not yet arrived. Do not appear in it until Tuesday, for some [?] our boy - might spoil it so as to spoil your fun. Such things have been done. Put it quietly in your trunk until commencement. If it does not fit make the best of it, and we will get it exchanged if possible. When you come home - Thermometer at 88, I do not see how you will stand it. I am feeling well, tho - minus teeth. I am too sorry to miss your Oration, Be sure to call on Uncle

Sam," take leave [?] thank him for all his instructions +c - leave a good impression. We will all go to New Haven early in Sept. to look for board, if we cannot get a house - My vacation has just begun and it seems so short. I can hardly wait to see you. One week from to-day you will be en route. Pray be careful on the cars, and in getting on and off. May God watch over you, and bring you in safely to Mother I am too sorry that you cannot have your examen now, but they say Uncle Sam's boys always get in - If you do not enter I shall take you to Amherst, I think. Lovingly, Mother.
