My dear Son,
I take my pen
to send you a few words of welcome
to your Andover home.
As I am writing now 5 1/2 o'clock
I suppose you are in Boston hurrying
to the Andover cars. I am
seated at my desk, Alice sits on
my trunk answering a letter
recd from Ruthie this [?] recd.
We miss you sadly and pray
that God will watch over you
and keep you from harm.
I love to think of you as returning
to a room with which, I am
familiar, for I can fancy that
I see you at the table, and in
your rocking chair, &c. I have
just been glancing at your Acct.
You did not include the carpet
&c, bought at Boston.
