Andover June 28th
My Dear Parents,
Yours of the 25th came
to hand saturday afternoon. Glad to hear
you are all well + enjoying such good health.
I had some thoughts of coming home + enjoy
the "4th" with you, but my desires have been
blighted - This was the plan - If Mr Taylor
was willing, we (Chum + myself) were to set
out next friday night on foot + thus get home.
But he was not willing + you know we could
not walk down in the warm sun. Therefore
I am to have a fine time I expect, if you
send the means. We begin to fear the Dr's
cherries will be disposed of by other means
than ourselves. For he not only has company
all the time, but the birds carry them off
very fast. Tis provoking to sit + see 1/2 dozen
robbins in a tree helping themselves + we have
to go without - And so if there is room
in the "trunk" please put in a few. Have
you got any strawberries? I hardly know what to
send for in the way of food, perhaps a little
