Monday, December 29th
It is a most delightful morning and seems exactly like spring, the rain having carried off a great deal of snow leaving the ground bare in many places.
Succeeded very well in book-keeping and Algebra today. At night took a walk down to the depot and witnessed the arrival of a train from Boston. Found a letter in the office from home.
Sat up quite late tonight studying, and writing composition.
When I got to my rooms, I read my letter & found it principally from brother Albion with a part from Father & Mother. It is real good to get such letters. A rich treat.
Very bad walking to day.
30th My chum being a litte unwell did not go to breakfast with me. While coming out of the house after breakfast saw a splendid star or meteor shoot.
Mr Taymor told us this morning that he should allow us in the afternoon of New years day for a half holiday.
