Dear Cousin,
Your small billet was
received a few minutes ago; & I am much
disappointed that you did not write according
to your desire. A letter would have been
next akin to seeing of you & I should
have been highly gratified in hearing more
particularly from home; but not a single
letter was sent from Andover. I have been
somewhat lonesome since I saw you.
The riding has been rather disagreeable &
besides I do not find the same agreeable
circle which you enjoy, to cheer my spirits
when they begin to flag. It is time we have
some girls in the neighborhood, but they
are on the verge of matrimony: so that
their hurry is so great that it seems mischief
to hinder them from their preparations
by my frivolous chitchat with them.
