Dear Cousin,

I have not seen you so long
I thought I would just pass you a short Sunday
evening visit. Well, good friend, how do you? You
have taken the country air so long, you can't
but be healthy if it agrees with your constitution.
A visit from your honor would be very agreeable
if convenient with your business. You are quite
a stranger in these parts. There has been [?]
thing capital since you left us. Ordination. [?]
And who do you think went? Why all the smart [?]
For instance, Misses H. & S. Poor, S. Foster your
darling & our cousin Dorcas, &c. Our friends Billy
& Thomas, &c were of the band. How grand all
this must be. But dear me! how disappointed
I was not to make one of the respectable
company. I could not go, tho' there was but one thing
which hindered me, & that was not for the want of
a horse, no, I was detained by so small a thing as a
bile. O pitiful. But to make amends for this I expect
to set my face for Exeter tomorrow. Next week we are
to have high doings at Dracut so they say. Good night. A Abbot
