till I could make a turn of some of my land lying
at a greater distance, which cannot be done for ready
payment. - - - - We talk of visiting our friends
this spring, tho there is some uncertainty attending
it. We wish brother Ezra would let us know of
what time he will be here, & we will endeav-
or to order our visit as not to interfere with his.
It has been a long time since we have heard
directly from Andover, &c. It gives us great satis-
faction to know the state of our friends & to par-
take in all their joys. We very much lament
the death of Gov'r Phillips. We pray that God would raise
up others for church & state. This is a day in which there
is much need of such firm, pious & amicable cha-
racters. You will feel the loss very sensibly in your
town. Every exertion is here making to revolution
in this state; & I presume exections eve as great
in Massachuestts. We become the lovers of order to
be firm & active in duty & commit this country
to God. Duty, love, be to your family,
Your Son A. Abbot
