the fate, have induced me to let the farm, which I
bought last year. I have let it for 80 dollars. The
farm is in such a state & let to such a man as
I do not apprehend that it will be left worse than it
is now. A note of 500 dollars will become due for
the land next Jan'y. This I believe I should be able
to meet & answer other demands; especially if much
dependence could be put upon punctuality respecting
my salary. But I am about purchasing the small
piece of land of about 7 1/2 acres lying on the front
of mine & which will makae my lot much more con-
venience. It will cost about 20 dolls an acre & pay
must be prompt. Perhaps I cannot give you a bet-
ter idea of the land then by the following figure; rear of my Cot
I suppose it will be necessary to ask & receive
the assistance of some of my friends in purchasing (diagram labels)
this lot, or in discharging the great note, unless I
press my people harder than I wish. I know not
from whom I should be more probably assisted, than
yourself. I should wish for the use of 100 or 150 dollars
