Trenches 1917 Mar. 29 cont. rangement can be made to dig another Trench across, that some system of screens or camouflage be erected and movement made overland, as less damage would be incurred in crossing the valley, owing to the increased speed which would be made.

The Enemy's shelling, while intermittent, is severe, using H.E. From 9.30 till noon today, he threw about eight shells on our Front and Support Lines, as well as in Jouave Valley. From 2.45 until 4 o'clock this afternoon, our entire area was very heavily shelled considerable further damage being done to our trenches, and Ersatz Valley has again been blown in at several points. His range on Hospital ridge is very accurate, and during this afternoon's bombardment, about eight shells were placed on the 38th Batt. Headquarters, and Company Headquarters on this ridge hae also suffered. Quite a number of his shells were apparently fired on the Arras Line and intermediate points
