Vimy 1917 May 25 cont.
were shelled for 15 minutes at 4.00 p.m. today without
any losses being incurred. During the day, enemy?
heavy artillery was almost continuously active on IA
CHAUDIERE are with occasional firing on GIVENCHY.
Hostile artilery fire wold appear to be at long range.
Enemy's Machine Guns swept the IENS-ARRAS Road throughout
the night, also area of our Support and Reserve Lines. This fire
apparently came from a considerable distance in rear of enemy
Front Line system as it did not interfere with our working
parties on the New Front. Practically no enemy sniping was reported
in the past 24 hours. Light Trench Morter Shells were di-
rected on our Front Line area at intervals during the night
without any damage being done. No new Trench Mortar em-
plasements have been observed. The enemy attitude during
the past 24 hours was quiet. Major O? 2.M?
went up to Front Line in evening to ask for Lieut. Green. of Adjunt? RBO'S
