and effective, causing many casualties. Heavy rifle fire
has been maintained each day from our front line trenches
against various enemy targets and locations where
movement and work have been observed. There has been
practically no hostile sniping. Observation con-
ditions being favourable most of the period, our aeroplanes
have been active on patrols, and artillery observation,
flying well beyond enemy's line. Enemy air-
craft have been inactive, very few machines having
succeeded in crossing our lines to any distance.
Hostile movement greatly decreased in the latter part
of the period, owing to the activity of our snipers and
artillery fire. Considerable damage was
caused to our trenches in the AVION sector from hostile
shell fire, creating a heavy amount of maintenance

sent down to vicinity of Transport Lines for Bath and Pay.
Heavy winds and rain continue. RBO'S

30 Batt. in Support Line. "A" Company out for bath & pay.
Very windy with occasional showers of rain.
