Office of the Board of Trustees of the
Ohio University
Athens Ohio Dec.31.1903 1. PM
A called meeting of the Board of Trustees of the
Ohio University was held this day at its office in
Ewing Hall and at the hour above named, in
pursuance of a written notice duly given
by the Secretary to all of the members of the Board
in the manner prescribed by law.
The meeting was called to order by President Ellis.
A call of the roll showed the following members of
the Board to be present. Alston. Ellis Precident
of the Ohio University - V. C. Lowrey L.M Jewett
Secretary of the Board - R. E. Hamblin- C. C. Davidson-
A.Lene- L.J. Fenton. E. J Jones- J.M Welch- J P.
Wood. F. C. Whiley. I. M Foster. T.R. Biddle and
Henry O' Bleness, being a legal quorum of said
Board, nin members there of constituting a
quorum under the laws of Ohio.
[inserted] Resolution
as to
Gen.CH Grosvenor [end inserted] Mr Foster offered the following resolution to wit:
"Whereas the efforts of Honorable.
C. H Grosvenor have resulted in the procuring
of $30.000 00 for a library for the Ohio University
and the village of Athens Ohio, from Mr Andrew
Carnegie: Therefore, be it Resolved by the Trustees
of the Ohio University, that we extend to Honorable
C. H. Grosvenor our hearty thanks for the efforts he
has put forth, resulting in this handsome donation
for said library" and moved its adoption, which motion
was duly seconded and adopted by a unanimous
rising vote of the Board.

Carnegie
Donation [end inserted] The Board of Education of the Village of Athens, and
Dr H.P. McVay and R. W. Roach a committee representing
the Village of Athens Ohio met with the Board
to consider the proposed donation of Andrew Carnegie
of $30.000 00 for the erection and construction of a
library building upon the grounds of the Ohio University
for the use of the Ohio University, and the Village
