At the meeting of the Committee held this day the elective
Executive Committee requested [Muj?] Celius Townsend to [mendane?] the following
Committee, resolution in regard to the resignation of Prof. Willis [Burghiton?]
"The Executive Committee of the Board of
Trustees of the Ohio University accept with regret the
resignation of Prof. Willis [Burghiton?] just tenured
This resignation made by the professor of his own choice and in his interest in
defense to him, we say that he has been efficient in all
respects as a [text?] and as a citizen highly esteemed, and we
part with him in all relationship with great neglect
and accompany him with our highest neglect
On motion day [text?] resolution was
unamusingly adopted
