The newly revised Missal following the directives
of the Council of Trent was first published in
Rome in 1570, but very soon on July 28 1570,
Plantin acquired the exclusive right for the
printing of Missals + other liturgical books
for the Low Countries, Spain + the Spanish
colonies. The 1st Plantin edition appeared in
1572. At first, until 1576 Plantin's almost complete
output of Missals was intended for the Spanish
market.
