Written in an Italian gothic hand on fine
vellum, in Latin, c brown ink c headlines,
paragraph marks + underlining in red. 34 lines.
The 7 sign is uncrossed + the a is uniformly
unical.

The main types of psalms in the Psalter are as follows:
hymns, laments (the most frequent_ and thanksgivings.

Teh Psalter from the 9th to the 13th C. was the
prayer book of the faithful. Gradually it
acquired many of the elements which were to
become components of the Book of [?Hours?]. Its
readings in entirety, daily at first + then weekly.
was a fundamental part of the Benedictine Rule
that ultimately gave rise to the procedures of
worship of the canonical Hours which became the
basis of both communal + private devotions. It
usually contained other hymns than the Psalms
themselves, the songs from both the Old + New
Testaments called the Canticles, as well as texts
spoken in concert, like the Apostles' creed.
All the 150 psalms were recited in the course of
each week + most of them were said at the Hours
of Matin + Vespers. Matins on Sunday began with
Psalm 1, on Monday c Psalm 26 on Tuesday c
Psalm 52 on Thursday c Psalm 68 on Friday c
